I write this in eager anticipation for my husband to bring home a newly filled gas tank to me to complete my studio down-stairs. Love to me is a husband who, in the middle of re-doing a kitchen, is thoughtful enough to move two old cabinets and a counter-top downstairs for me to use in my studio. We re-used as many cabinets as we could, but there were some still left over- lucky me! So I have had everything I need... except for the gas. And then my jewelry-making shall commence once more.

Here is a commission of wire-work I just finished a couple weeks ago. I was honored to do this gal's bridesmaid jewelry. She enjoyed it so much that she wanted some pieces of her own and so did her mother. These pieces were a lot of fun to make- especially since they included pearls from her Grandmother's strand.

We'd been out of business-sized envelopes for a couple days before I came up with this frugal option. With a six-month-old, it's helpful anytime I can stay home and create it versus run out and get it (especially in inclement weather).


I'd been saving all those return envelopes from credit card companies, etc. for card-making. I had some labels on hand which provided a quick mask over the return addresses already printed on the envelope and- voila- business envelopes for free. Do business envelopes cost that much in the first place? No, but I think the chance to reuse something is even better than recycling it, and it's pretty swell that it saves us a trip to the store too!

The mobile is finished & hung with care over the changing table. The joys of a tall husband to assist with the hanging! I had originally planned to sew & stuff the birds, but with little success. What worked out much better was layering multiple fabrics, then sewing the bird shape onto the fabric using a stencil I created. After sewing the bird shape I cut them out & hung them from a branch I cut from a tree at my grandmother's years and years ago.
