When the Spring solstice arrived weeks ago, it snowed.

Our kids pressed hands against the window & voiced concern,

"But it's Spring! It's supposed to be Spring! And what about the flowers?"

Daffodils & paperwhites had just emerged from the ground, only to be covered with a blanket of white.

Little hands wanted to pick them all "before the snow harmed them"! But they trusted us as we explained that spring flowers are designed for spring- for frosts & thaws that happen over and over (and over) again.

The flowers are fine and our kids have learned a little more about Nature's design.

The Marvelous Egg

It's amazing that a daffodil can start in a bulb, and that life can start in an egg.

And it's amazing how many different kinds of eggs there are!

A wonderful book about eggs for kids is An Eqq is Quiet by Dianna Aston & Sylvia Long.

With pictures that jump off the page, it's a gorgeous introduction to the world of eggs. And not just birds' eggs- there are frog eggs, iguana eggs, butterfly eggs and lots of other creatures too.

Our 3rd grader loves it as much as our preschooler!

We loved it so much, that we wanted to continue our learning.

It's wonderful when that happens!

So I created this egg bingo with animals from the book. Since we have a non-reader, we made a version for her using only pictures. There's also a phonic version, a reader version, and an option for solo play (perfect for busy bags).

For extended life, we love this laminator
