DIY Marker Mug Decorating: Father's Day Questions for Kids

It's so much fun to see the world through my children's eyes! Recently Isia told me, "Mama I love you so much. Like bananas and ice cream with sprinkles." Love it. What better way to remember their unique phrases then a cup designed for someone they love best? I made this cup for Father's Day, but I could also see it as a great birthday gift for a Grandma or Aunt, a fun Mother's Day gift, or a thank you gift for a special baby-sitter. The possibilities are endless- and the results are always as unique as the answers!

This is a standard mug that I bought from Target. I used the DecoArt Glass Paint Markerand found it really easy to work with. The first thing I did was to wash the coffee mug, removing any stickers, and dry it thoroughly. Then I wrote Isia's answers onto it (see our questions below), keeping q-tips handy to erase off mistakes with a dab of water and making sure any "erased" areas were dry before writing over them again. Sometimes, after being put down for a second, my pen would need a little help flowing- so I always tested it out on a piece of paper first before writing on the coffee mug again. Once finished it sat on our kitchen counter overnight to cure before baking it in a 375*F oven the next morning for 40 minutes. I then turned the oven off and left it in there to cool, just for good measure.

Once it came out of the oven I scratched & scrubbed it, but it wouldn't come off at all. Success!
